Russian for Beginners

A practice-oriented short course which is aimed at improving your Russian language speaking skills. It is based on your up-to-date everyday Russian language needs for a successful communication, such as getting acquainted with Russian-speaking people, describing everyday activities, going to the shop, buying transport tickets, talking with taxi drivers, ordering food in restaurants, making appointments, etc. The course is based on a communicative method with some elements of blended learning which presupposes in-class meetings as well as independent work of yours, in-class discussions, role-plays and simulations under close supervision from the teacher.

Target audience: anyone who wants to learn basic Russian.

Upon the completion of the course you will:

  1. know the Russian alphabet and be able to read short simple texts in Russian;
  2. be able to keep up a short simple conversation in Russian;
  3. increase awareness of cultural differences;
  4. improve your listening and speaking skills with active listening techniques;
  5. have learned how to socialize in everyday situations.
